Yarwun 3 Upgrade Project

Tugun Bypass

Fabrication of twenty structural props used in the tunnel ramp construction using 900mm diameter pipe.

On site fabrication of twenty structural props used in tunnel ramp construction. Equipment utilized included use of rotators and Powerwave STT welding machines. Each butt weld required preheat and was completed by two welders welding in opposite directions.

Each structural prop length measured 26 meters long and was made from 20 mm thick 900 mm diameter pipe length.

Workshop facility

Client: Hitec Welding Brisbane

Hitec Welding Brisbane designed, manufactured and constructed its current workshop facility (3,000m2 covered area and 17,000m2 uncovered area / lay down yard). The workshop was in full operation January 2008.

Hitec Welding Brisbane processed 120MT of structural steel. The workshop has two 12m wide x 8m high roller doors and in addition to this has also five 6m wide x 6m high roller doors.

The workshop was fitted with two over head cranes with a combined lifting capacity of 15MT. In addition to the overhead cranes each welding and fitting bay has been fitted with individual cranes with a safe work load limit of 500kg at maximum reach.

The current facility will continue to expand with plans for the installation of a surface treatment facility.

Hitec Welding Brisbane is located approximately 17 km from Brisbane City, a very short trip to Brisbane airport, adjacent to the port of Brisbane and is positioned amongst local suppliers servicing the mining, CSG, Oil & Gas Industries.

Braemar 2 gas pipeline – Daandine metering station

Hitec Welding Brisbane manufacutured and installed all accoicated surface facilities from the gas flow line riser to the Dandine Power Station for Fuel Gas Header. Manufacutured items included the Fuel Gas Header, Metering Skid, Filter Coalescer Vessel and associated Structural Steel Skids.

Hitec Welding Brisbane completed all on site civil scope inclusive of enabling and placement of pre-cast concrete slabs, placement and connection of associated mechanical packages and also the installation of associated cable trays, cables and instruments. The hyro-testing pressure set point for associated pipe spool/ mechanical packages was 60,000 kPa.

Hitec Welding Brisbane were featured in the ERM weekly Newsletter indicating that there were no lost time safety incidents recorded during the construction/ installation period performed by Hitec Welding Brisbane.

Coal Seam Gas Flow Line Risers, Vents and Drains

Manufacture and supply of flow line risers, high point vents and low point drains. The carbon steel section (above ground) is welded to spigots allowing for a HDPE connection to the flow line.

HITEC Welding has supplied hundreds of both gas and water flow risers and associated flow line high point vents and low point drains. Risers are externally and internally coated and require 100% NDT (Non-destructive testing)

QER Technology Demonstration Plant

Hitec Welding Brisbane supplied a combination of carbon and stainless steel pipe spools – approximately 2,000 spools in total.

Stainless Steel varieties included 304, 308, 316 and 310.

Materials were supplied free issue by the client, handled and stored accordingly. All welding was non-destructively tested (radiography, die penetrate, magnetic particle) and where required hydro-testing was completed.

All spools were shipped to Gladstone utilizing the design and built Hitec Welding Brisbane pipe spool carrier. The purpose built carrier allows for safe and easy loading and un-loading of pipe spools. The unique design carrier confines all spools to allow for secure strapping to transport trucks and further more has removable walls.

Santos 2010 separator package

Hitec Welding Brisbane provided manufacturing, assembly, installation of electrical and instrumentation components and completed Factory Acceptance Testing for all of the packages supplied.

The CSG Separator package design incorporated the water transfer pump and piping and associated metering for water and gas. Hitec Welding Brisbane contributed to the design and final product through collaboration with FYFE engineering . The associated package was an initiative by SANTOS in terms of minimising production equipment foot-print. The water transfer pump is run by a hydraulic power pack.

Hitec Welding Brisbane manufactured and supplied all inter-connecting pipe spools from the well head to the separator package, and flow line risers for each of the six installations.

Porgera mine cement plant Papua New Guinea

FV338 ESP

FV340 superseam pad

In addition, Hitec Welding Brisbane were engaged to review and updated all associated piping drawings with regards to dimensions and visit the work site to confirm well head orientations and heights to allow for associated well head spooling to be completed.

Underground injection facilities and metering stations

Hitec Welding Brisbane fabricated pipe spools, assembled and installed associated electrical and instrumentation equipment.

The mechanical piping class was 900lb (Schedule 160) with pipe wall thickness of 23mm. The pipe spool hydro-testing rage varied from 20,000kPa to 25,000kPa. Six mechanical skid packages were supplied in total.

The Hitec Welding Brisbane purpose workshop facility allowed for road-train transport to be utilised. The workshop facility has 6m high roller doors. The mechanical packages were all loaded safely with the use of the facility workshop over head cranes (lifting capacity 15T). Each mechanical packaged weighed approximately 14T and included Rotork Shut Down Valves, Emerson instrumentation, New-way Flow Control Valves.

Manufacture of a refining steam ring

Hitec Welding Brisbane designed and manufactured a like for like Steam Ring assembly for Caltex Refinery, Queensland.

The carbon steel Steam Ring required a significant amount of preparation work including the setout and measurement grid prior to final fit-out and welding. All associated welds were non destructively tested. The assembly of the Steam Ring was completed on a HITEC Welding purpose built and designed work bench to accommodate and assist with the fabrication tolerances of +/- 1mm.

Caltex Refinery 7c6 Column Repair

Client: Caltex Refinery, Brisbane, QLD

Date: 2011

Hitec Welding Brisbane completed repairs to a Caltex Refinery Alkylation Column. The repairs detailed out by the Caltex Reliability Department included the cut out of corroded areas, replacement of column flanges and hard face welding of internal sections.

The correct personal protective equipment and clothing were utilised throughout the repair activities. Cut outs of corroded areas and the re-fitting of shell sections involved meticulous skills and all welds were non-destructively tested. The column section was repaired in accordance with the client standards and specifications. The hard-face welding was completed with the assistance of a robotic-arm. The column and associated platform section were re-assembled and surface treatment applied prior to shipment to Caltex Refinery, Queensland.

Yebna North 2 and 3 pilot Wells

HCS Flare and Knockout Drums

HITEC Welding Brisbane have successfully secured the design, procurement and manufacture of six flare knockout drums for the Fluor Santos GLNG project.

The project showcases HITEC Welding Brisbane’s commitment to a collaborative approach to project execution in terms of understanding client requirements and providing extended services to meet time and financial constraints.

The design of the HCS flare and knockout drums have been approved and the project has commenced procurement phase of associated piping and structural components.

The final package will be inclusive of all electrical and instrumentation installation. The approximate dimensions are 4m diameter by 15m long.

HITEC Welding Brisbane have collaborated with local engineering firms and utilise the latest engineering and drafting software for the development of mechanical and electrical packages. Services include vessel design certification and registration, structural design, process design, detail drafting and layout design, hydraulic and stress analysis, instrument and electrical design of Hazardous Areas.

GLNG Gathering Tank Pump Packages

HITEC Welding has successfully completed the supply of Gathering Skid packages for the Coal Seam Gas Industry supplied to Fluor SANTOS GLNG Project.

The project completed by HITEC Welding involved taking client concepts through to the final stages of manufacture and dispatch.

The project provided HITEC Welding the opportunity to be involved in the very early stages of a project, allowing for collaboration/ sharing and exchange of expertise and knowledge and ultimately delivering on client requirements with respect to safety, cost, schedule and quality.

Each Gathering Skid Package dispatched consisted of a diesel tank, transfer pumps, interconnecting pipe spools, installation of associated instrumentation and electrical wiring, valves, structural skid frames and electrical junction boxes.

Coal Seam Gas Arcadia Production Surface Equipment

For the Fluor SANTOS GLNG Coal Seam Gas Project.

The project showcases the HITEC Welding commitment to providing a diverse range of engineering and fabrication services. HITEC Welding Brisbane developed an alternative to the standard carbon steel flow line low point drains, risers and transition spools. Through technical and financial evaluation the alternative has been considered and is now currently in progress and practice. The alternative involved substituting the previous carbon steel sections with stainless steel providing time and cost savings to our client.

This design input by HITEC Welding Brisbane into the overall project has saved both time and cost to the client and further more providing a more durable final product.

HITEC Welding Brisbane commenced works in early 2012 and completed the contract scope by end of year 2012. HITEC Welding has also designed and developed its own unique hydro-testing and pneumatic testing station. The testing station allows for multiple risers to be tested at a single time reducing final end costs to the client.

Warrinilla 6 Knock-Out Drum Project

HITEC Welding designed and fabricated the Warinilla 6 Knock-Out Drum (4181-V-0001), lease piping and structural supports for Santos.

The scope of work includes:

  • Design and preparation of General Arrangement drawing of the knock-out drum
  • Registration of the design and of the vessel
  • Fabrication of the knock-out drum including all mechanical equipment, piping, valves, structural and mechanical installation of instrumentation components
